Rich Diviney draws upon more than 20 years of experience as a Navy SEAL officer where he completed more than 13 overseas deployments – 11 of which were to Iraq and Afghanistan. Throughout his career, he has achieved multiple leadership positions – including serving as the commanding officer of a Navy SEAL command. Since retirement in early 2017, Rich has worked as a speaker, facilitator, and consultant with the Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute and Simon Sinek Inc. He is the author of The Attributes: 25 Hidden Drivers of Optimal Performance.

What you'll learn from this episode:

  • The quality of our lives is directly proportional to the quality of questions we ask ourselves—how asking targeted, inspiring questions allows you to take conscious control of your brain and find solutions that help you overcome lack of energy and push through laziness.

  • Why reframing a situation is crucial and the importance of cultivating gratitude by asking the right questions.

  • Why laughter is the best medicine and how it “juices” your brain with dopamine, endorphins, and oxytocin.

  • Why we should strive for optimal performance rather than peak performance and the importance of conserving energy for the long haul.

  • It’s going to hurt if you want to be good at anything—the three factors that support your neural network for best learning outcomes: focus, intensity, and novelty.

  • And so much more!
